This original Chinese brush painting features spring on the Li River. Peacefulness and harmony is the main theme that is reflected in the flow of energy from drifting clouds to reflective water. It is also reflected in the relations between people and the greater environment.
Existed for thousands of years, Chinese brush painting uses naturally made ink and color on silk and paper. Calligraphy, poetry, and artist self-made signature stamp are integral part this traditional form of artistic expression.
The poem in running scrip calligraphy on the upper right corner reads: Sounding mountains are picturesque, flowers are blooming everyday all year long.
About Yufeng Wang
I am a Chinese brush painting artist and college professor in Dayton, Ohio. As a teenager, my love of traditional Chinese paintings was inspired by the renowned artists Sun Qifeng and Fan Zeng in Tianjin, China. I studied Chinese brush painting with the noted artist Mr. Afu Hong from Fujian Province in China. My artwork desires to reflect and create a sense of peace and harmony in nature and humanity. Through Chinese brush painting and calligraphy, I try to convey the inner spirits and outer beauty of our surroundings. I use a fine-tipped Chinese brush with ink and color on paper and silk, creating a rhythmic synchronization of stroke variations and texture expressions to form a mind image of the subject.
