About Yufeng Wang
I am a Chinese brush painting artist and college professor in Dayton, Ohio. As a teenager, my love of traditional Chinese paintings was inspired by the renowned artists Sun Qifeng and Fan Zeng in Tianjin, China. In recent years, I studied Chinese brush painting with the noted artist Mr. Abu Hong from Fujian Province in China.
My artwork desires to reflect and create a sense of peace and harmony in nature and humanity. Through Chinese brush painting and calligraphy, I try to convey the inner spirits and outer beauty of our surroundings. I use a fine-tipped Chinese brush with ink and color on paper and silk, creating a rhythmic synchronization of stroke variations and texture expressions to form a “mind image” of the subject. I apply both techniques of Chinese brush painting-- meticulous method and freehand style. With poetic expressions, my paintings intend to articulate attitude and reverence toward the greater nature rather than simply meeting the eye.
My artwork was featured in the Chinese Brush Paintings for Peace and Harmony exhibit at the Dayton International Peace Museum, April-June 2011. Wright State University hosted an exhibition of my artwork “Seasons in Harmony,” April 8-27, 2012. My art work was included in the "Living Green" art exhibition at University of Dayton in May, 2012.
